An Anxious Heart

We all get stressed at times.  We toss and turn in our sleep.  We pace the halls or even go to the bathroom every ten minutes thanks to a nervous bladder.  Being stressed actually causes us more stress and others can become stressed just by watching us.

In Matthew 11:29-30 Jesus instructs us, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

We should be able to release our burdens and let God handle them.  God is bigger than all of our problems and we don't need to be burdened by them when we trust God to take care of our needs.

Unfortunately we have great difficulty releasing our worries and we become weighed down with anxiety.  It's a matter of trust but it's also human nature.  We worry about things that we don't have control over (and sometimes the things we do have control over scare us even more.)

But a kind word spoken to someone who is worried can make all the difference.  Maybe it's just letting them know that you're praying for them.  Maybe it's just a smile and "Have a nice day."  Even simple things like this can make a world of difference to someone who is under a load of anxiety.
