7 Keeping
Knowledge
Keeping knowledge to
ourselves seems counter intuitive.
Certainly God wants us to instruct others about
Jesus Christ. He also doesn't want us to
lie by withholding something that we know.
This verse doesn't mean
anything like that however. This is in
reference to people who we've all encountered
who have the need to tell everyone everything
that they know. Sometimes it's arrogance
that makes a person want to say everything they
know, other times it is ignorance that no one
else wants to know or they would have asked.
A wise man once said, "It
is better to remain silent and thought a fool
than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt."
A wise person recognizes that they don't know
everything and won't pretend to be an expert on
all topics.
Fools however will expose
themselves as frauds as they talk about things
they have no clue about. In the end, we're
better off just keeping our mouths shut if we
don't have anything constructive to add to a
conversation. We don't need to talk every
moment of the day. |
