21 Talking
too Much
We think of a gossip as a
little old lady who spends a lot of time at the
beauty parlor. But a gossip can be anyone
who spreads information about other people.
It has been said that
"Small people talk about other people, average
people talk about things, and great people talk
about ideas." Little is accomplished by
talking about other people other than the
spreading of rumors.
Gossip is usually hidden
under the guise of "just concerned about"
someone. "I'm concerned that so and so is
having an affair. It would be awful with
three kids." True of false, nothing is
accomplished by spreading this information.
If a person was truly concerned they would speak
to the person they were concerned about rather
than everyone else about the problem.
People avoid gossips
because they don't want anything being spread
around about themselves. They are only
good for finding out what is going on with
others. They should be avoided both so
that we don't participate in gossip as well as
to avoid becoming the topic of gossip. |
