20 Avoiding
Strife
There are some who feel
the need to argue regardless what might be said.
You could say that the sky was blue and they
would argue that it wasn't.
We are not called to
blindly accept everything that we hear. We
can and should challenge things that are
contrary to our understanding. Acts 17:11
gives this account of the Bereans: "Now the
Bereans were of more noble character than the
Thessalonians, for they received the message
with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures
every day to see if what Paul said was true."
Faith is not about blind
acceptance. But it is certainly not about
quarreling either. Quarreling can go
beyond mere words and turn into physical
fighting.
There are ways that we can
disagree while maintaining order. Often
disagreements begin from a lack of information
or communication of that information.
There is usually no intent of doing anything
wrong but people may become defensive when
accused of wrong doing. We should avoid
accusations at least until we're certain we have
all of the information. |
