14 Love and
Faithfulness
There are two parts to
dealing with the problem of sin. The first
is seeking forgiveness while the second part is
avoiding it the next time.
We must be careful to
realize that faith and love do not remove our
sin. We don't earn forgiveness. That
is only done through the blood of Jesus Christ.
However, we can negate the consequences of sin.
If we hurt someone we can try to make it up to
them. It is up to them to forgive us but
we can do our best to love that person
regardless whether they forgive us or not.
Through the fear of the
Lord a person will think longer next time before
committing the same sin. They will
remember the pain they caused the last time they
did such a thing.
While our sin may hurt
others, it always hurts God. Our
relationship is affected every time we choose to
sin rather than obey God. Even if we
aren't caught by others, God still knows.
So when we sin we must
seek forgiveness. We must work to make
things right with those affected and with God.
And finally we need to remember how our sin
affects our relationship with our Maker. |
