Beginning of Wisdom
Fear has a bad connotation
in our minds. When we hear the word fear,
we think of snakes, spiders, or scary movies.
But fear of the Lord has nothing to do with any
of this.
Fearing God is not being
scared of him. Those who have asked God to
forgive them of their sins because of the work
of Christ on the cross have absolutely nothing
to be scared of.
Instead, fear of the Lord
means revering Him. When we fear God we
want to please him. It's become cliché to
ask "What would Jesus do?" but fearing the Lord
does ask the question as to what God would have
us do.
When we are seeking to do
God's will we are going to become wiser because
God is going to direct us in His ways.
Knowledge of God will also become understanding
because God will guide us.
There are many who know
about God but they do not understand Him.
They don't follow Him because they do not love
Him. Fearing God means following Him and
growing closer to Him daily as we walk with Him. |
