October is the beginning of
harvest time and was an important part of
biblical life. Therefore it is no surprise
that God had a lot of say about the harvest and
used a number of farming analogies in the Bible.
Bearing fruit is an important part of the
Christian life. Most Christians are
familiar with the Fruit of the Spirit in
Galatians 5:22-23. This will be a big part
of our devotions this month but we will also
look at several passages in both the Old and New
Testaments that concern with bearing fruit or
expecting a harvest.
Our devotions this month go through the
Bible chronologically. They will show how
consistent the Bible is in its message of
bearing fruit and what God expects of us as
Christians. We will start out in Genesis 1
and close in Revelation 22, literally going from
one end of the Bible to the other. |
