| October 6 Fruit in
Repentance
The
job of John the Baptist was to prepare the way
for Jesus' ministry. He called people to
repent of their sins and get their lives back on
track.
To repent means to turn
180 degrees in the opposite direction from the
way you were headed. Repentance does not
just mean saying that you're sorry. Anyone
can say they are sorry; many can be
genuinely sorry.
It is only the truly
repentant that can be sorry and seek to stop
doing the same things that they are sorry about.
Good fruit is a product of repentance.
Wickedness also bears
fruit but it is a harvest that no one wants to
reap. Repentance means bearing fruit that
is in line with the will of God.
Good fruit is an
indication of truly changed life. Wicked
people will continue to bear wicked fruit,
regardless of what they profess. Repentant
people won't be able to help but bear good fruit
because they have turned from their sinful ways. |
