Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit
is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and
self-control. Against such things there is no
law.

October 19 Fruit of
the Spirit - Kindness
There is a method of evangelism that you may
or may not have heard of. It is called
random acts of kindness. Church members
offer free car washes, clean up neighbors'
yards, or do any other number of things simply
in the name of Christ.
The idea behind this is that kindness is
dying out in society today. We don't
expect kindness from people we encounter.
We don't even expect it from sales or service
people, the very people that we pay to help help
us.
When kindness is shown, it is so out of the
ordinary that the recipients often want to know
the source of such kindness. Of course the
Holy Spirit is the source of our kindness.
It is because of our love for God that we want
to be kind to other people as well.
It is natural that we only want to look out
for ourselves today. We've been trained
that we'll become a doormat if we are nice to
others. But kindness is self sacrificing.
What we do in kindness is not for our benefit
but for others. |
