Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit
is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and
self-control. Against such things there is no
law.

October 17 Fruit of
the Spirit - Peace
Peace is often thought of as an outward
thing. Where people speak of peace, it is
usually thought of as an absence of conflict.
When people cry for peace, they are calling for
an end to war in some particular place.
While Christians should strive for this
peace, this is not what the fruit of the Spirit
is referring to when it speaks of peace.
This peace that Galatians is referring to is a
peace within oneself.
Peace is something that we don't often think
about until a time comes that we need it.
When chaos swirls about us, then we cry out so
that God would give us peace. But having
peace within ourselves is something that can and
should be practiced before chaos begins.
We gain peace by trusting God in small
things. When bigger trials come, we can
reflect back upon the smaller things that God
saw us through and our faith is increased.
We gain peace by knowing that God will see us
through the big problems as well as the small
ones.
Our peace is a testimony to others around us,
as are all of the fruit of the Spirit.
When we have a peace that comes from God, others
will notice it because it is a peace that passes
understanding. God's peace can't be
replicated anywhere else, it can only come
through the Holy Spirit. |
