Fruit of the Spirit - Love

Love is a very easy and yet very difficult thing to explain.  Everyone knows what love is when you talk to them about it.  But if you ask 100 people to explain love, you'll get 100 different descriptions and still no true definition.

In its truest form, love is self sacrificing.  1 Corinthians 13 describes what love is but it can be best summarized as being sacrificial.  Love is always looking out for the good of another person ahead of one's own good.

Love is the only thing that allows us to be self sacrificing.  Things which we do out of love make no logical sense.  There's no good reason why we would sacrifice our time, money, or personal preferences without anything in return unless it is for love.

While many think only of romantic love, even this is self sacrificing in nature.  It is when a relationship becomes self centered that troubles arise.

Obviously much can has been written on love but only through the power of the Spirit can it be expressed in its purest and most selfless form.
