2 Corinthians 9:11-12
You will be made rich in every way so that you
can be generous on every occasion, and through
us your generosity will result in thanksgiving
to God. This service that you perform is not
only supplying the needs of God's people but is
also overflowing in many expressions of thanks
to God.

24 Helping Others to Thank
As Paul writes the Corinthians, he is
encouraging their generosity in giving. He
reminds them that what they give should not be
done under compulsion but with a cheerful and
willing heart.
When we give, we create reasons for other
people to thank God. First of all, when we
give, we should give with a thankful heart, as
Paul has mentioned about being a cheerful giver.
A cheerful giver is one who gives with the
recognition that God is the source of their
blessings. This cheerfulness and
thankfulness will quickly spread to others as
they see the reason for our thankfulness.
But there is a second obvious benefit that
our giving creates. The recipient of our
gift has a very good reason to thank God as
well. When we give, we are simply a vessel
through which God's gifts flows. We pass
along the gifts that God gave us to someone who
may need them more than we do. In doing
so, we thank God for our gifts and those who
receive the gifts from us also thank God.
It is a double blessing and a double thanking!
This is a win-win scenario for everyone
involved. The giver gives thanks as they
give joyfully. The recipient gives thanks
when they receive the gift. And God gets
all of the glory as being the source of all the
blessings. |
