Futility Without Thanks

It would seem to make sense that those who know of God would acknowledge Him with reverence and thanks.  This is not the case however as many people see the evidence of God every day in their eyes but choose to ignore Him and don't offer thanks.

When we don't give thanks to God our thinking becomes futile because we imagine that what we've accomplished we have done on our own.  We look around and think about what we have achieved and what we have bought and built with the money we have earned.

"A fool and his money are soon parted" is not a biblical proverb but can be applied to thanksgiving nevertheless.  When we acknowledge God as the source of all we have, we are more careful with what God has entrusted us because we know that God can take it away at any moment.

Fools and futile thinkers squander their resources because they believe they have the earned the right to do as they please.  They foolishly assume that because they are the source of their wealth, there will always be more.  Once they discover that their wealth comes from God and they should be giving thanks to Him for it, it is often too late.
