Daniel 6:10
Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been
published, he went home to his upstairs room
where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three
times a day he got down on his knees and prayed,
giving thanks to his God, just as he had done
before.

13 Boldness in Thanksgiving
People who were jealous of Daniel set a trap
and got the king to issue a decree that no one
could pray except to him. Daniel had a
choice to make; he could follow the law, or he
could continue to pray to God and give Him
thanks.
Daniel chose to continue to honor God and
publicly prayed to Him just as he had before
despite the risk. Daniel was arrested and
thrown into the lion's den according to the law
but God continued to keep Daniel safe.
Daniel's boldness in thanksgiving ended up
being a testimony to his faith in God as the
king ended up acknowledging Daniel's God and
knew that Daniel served a mighty God who was
capable of rescuing him from the lion's den.
When we are bold in our giving of thanks, it
isn't just a testament to what kind of
Christians we are. It is a testimony to
the kind of God we serve. We love and
thank a God who suffered more ridicule and
persecution than we ever will. Jesus
endured all of this for us. We should be
bold enough to thank Him and risk any possible
persecution and ridicule for doing so. |
