You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy, that my heart may sing to you and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give you thanks forever.

Thanks Forever

God helps us overcome adversity and is with us in the toughest times of our life.  God is the only one who is able to turn mourning into praise.  This is a great reason to thank the Lord.

As is also pointed out in this Psalm, thanking God is not just an activity for here on earth.  It will continue on forever in heaven as well.  This isn't just hyperbole, as in Revelation we see that we will worship around the throne of God.

Some may think that this will be boring because they find their current church unexciting but it will be far from boring.  Being in the presence of God will be enough to make worship exciting.  Likewise we will be in the presence of millions of other believers as we are united in worship.  Nothing we do in heaven will be half hearted or lukewarm, it will be a tremendous experience of thanking and praising God.

We have much to thank God for here on earth but we have a very limited perspective currently.  When we reach heaven we will have a much better grasp of what God has done for us and there will be many more things to thank Him for that we never even realized while here on earth.

We ought to learn to enjoy thanksgiving here on earth because we have all of eternity to continue doing it in heaven.
