2 Chronicles 5:13
The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as
with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the
LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other
instruments, they raised their voices in praise
to the LORD and sang: "He is good; his love
endures forever." Then the temple of the LORD

2 Music in Thanks
Music is used in worship and thanks all
throughout the Bible. We often think of
thanks as something that we pray at mealtime but
it is so much more than that.
It is hard to sing and not be happy and
joyful. Thanks should be an expression of
joy. It shouldn't be done begrudgingly or
out of a sense of duty. We should be happy
as we thank God for our blessings.
The scene of 2 Chronicles 5 is the ark of the
Lord being brought into the temple that Solomon
had built for the Lord. It is a solemn
occasion but also one to be very thankful for.
This time of praise and thanks was also very
boisterous. It included instruments that
some Christians aren't accustomed to having in
their church. It was probably pretty loud
with trumpets and cymbals and numerous people
singing.
There are times for a quiet word of thanks
and there are times for loud celebrations of
thanks. Music is a perfectly acceptable
part of our thanks and should be used routinely
alongside of our quiet moments of thanks.
