22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not
consumed, for his compassions never fail.
23 They are new every morning;

is your faithfulness.

New Love and Compassion
Many probably recognize these verses from the
hymn "Great is Thy Faithfulness" but have never
given them much thought. God's new love
and compassion is a part of His faithfulness to
us.
God's love is extended to us in many ways.
The greatest is the gift of Jesus to all of
mankind. If this were the only way that
God showed His love us, it would be more than we
deserve.
But God continually shows His love to us.
He continues to forgive us even when we act like
ungrateful children and forget everything that
He has done for us in the past. God
patiently waits for us to return to Him like the
father in the story of the prodigal son.
Often we fail to recognize what God does for us
but His love showers upon us each and every day.
As the song says, "Morning by morning, new
mercies I see. All I have needed Thy hand
hath provided. Great is Thy faithfulness,
Lord, unto me." |
