A New Thing
God is full of surprises. In a skeptical
world we see miracles all around us but fail to
notice them. There are every day miracles
like the birth of a child or a sunrise.
But there are also miraculous recoveries from
illnesses that defy medical explanation.
Then there are unseen miracles. An
accident that was avoided by 30 seconds because
of misplaced keys or a chance encounter that
brightened someone's day that wasn't by chance
at all.
Some Christians believe that God created the
world and then sat back and left it to spin on
its own. This couldn't be further from the
truth. God is active in the world today.
He responds to prayers for healing just as He
responds to prayers for rain.
A new thing doesn't have to be something that
we've never seen before. A new thing is
anything that would not be without God at work.
He brings the rain and causes streams to flow in
the midst of a wasteland. God makes
wonderful things happen that we can and should
delight in. |
