1 Corinthians 12:12
The body
is a unit, though it is made up of many parts;
and though all its parts are many, they form one
body. So it is with Christ.

One body, many parts
The body is a great
illustration for the church. It is even
referred to as the body of Christ often.
It is a living organism that is comprised of
many very different parts.
Just as the heart is very
different from a finger so too you may be very
different from the 20-something-year-old who
wants a contemporary service or the 80 year old
who wants to keep the organ. But both have
their place in the body and the body would
suffer without either one.
Our gifts make up one part of
the church. We are not the whole. We
need the church as much as the church needs our
gifts. But we need to realize that others
in the church have gifts as well and they must
have the chance to use them as well.
Just because your gift may be
in the area of worship does not mean the church
can function without missions. They are
both vital parts of the same body. |
