2 Corinthians 9:7
Each man should give what he has decided in his
heart to give, not reluctantly or under
compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Gift of Giving
We're all called to give to
the Lord. There is debate today whether we
should hold to the Old Testament standard of a
ten percent tithe or whether it was abolished in
the New Testament.
Those with the gift of giving
are not likely to even bother with such debates
however. It is a joy to give and there is
no set percentage in their head. Instead
they give as God blesses them and look for other
ways to give as well.
Although giving is usually
thought of as money, it can be time as well.
Those who can't give as much financially may use
their time to save the church money. They
may also have a gift of service or helps that
works in conjunction with their gift of giving.
While we are all instructed
to give cheerfully, a gifted giver always does
so cheerfully and doesn't look for recognition.
These people should be set as examples for other
Christians who are reluctant givers but we need
to be careful because they may wish to remain
anonymous.
Jesus instructed us to give
as though the right hand did not know what the
left was doing. Gifted givers are going to
live this and not be like the Pharisees who
wanted all to know how much they gave. |
