2 Timothy 2:2-3
And the things you have
heard me say in the presence of many witnesses
entrust to reliable men who will also be
qualified to teach others. Endure hardship with
us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.

Gift of Teaching
There is an old joke - Those who can, do; those
who can't, teach. This is obviously not
true but there is a kernel of truth behind the
thought in regard to biblical teaching. In
addition to doing however, those with the gift
of teaching obviously teach.
Those with the gift of teaching seek to
essentially reproduce themselves in others.
It is no mistake or coincidence that the word
disciple actually means student. In the
great commission we are told to make disciples
or literally students - we are to teach.
Even though we are all called to make disciples,
teachers have a special gift for teaching.
It can come in many ways because there are many
types of students from little children to the
elderly. Some may be gifted lecturers
while others are especially skilled in
interaction with students.
We are the people we are because of those who
have invested in our lives whether that was a
family member, pastor, friend, or a school
teacher. You're a teacher any time that
you reach out to make a difference in other
people's lives. |
