Pray for Understanding of the Law
We live in a world that tries to color
everything in shades of gray rather than in
black and white. If a person breaks the
law, there are reasons for it, reasons that
justify the breaking of the law.
Certainly there are some laws that are clearer
than others. Whether the law is justified
or not, a speed limit of 45 means 45 and not "45
unless you are running late for work."
Even if we know God's laws, we may forget them
at important times - like when we're angry - or
we might not understand them. Is tithing
still relevant today? Are we expected to
keep the Sabbath like in the Old Testament?
This is why it is important that we pray for
understanding. If we could do it on our
own we wouldn't need the Holy Spirit. But
God gave us the Spirit as a gift and we should
call upon Him for guidance when we need help.
Jesus was very clear to His disciples in John 16
that He wasn't going to leave them alone.
The Holy Spirit is meant to give us
understanding and to help us follow Jesus'
commands. |
